History of Blackjack
Blackjack is a game that has been played for centuries and is considered to be the most popular casino card game and is dealt in many forms in almost every casino in the world.
The earliest record of Blackjack is found in a book written by Miguel de Cervantes, the author who wrote Don Quixote, and was written in 1601 or thereabouts and was played in early Spain as a game known as Ventiuna which is Spanish for 21.
When the game was first introduced in the United States the gambling house owners needed an incentive to get players interested so they offered extra payouts if the player hit 21 with the Ace of Spades and a blackjack, either a club or spade and the name “Blackjack”was born and has stuck ever since.
How to Play Blackjack
Playing blackjack is really very simple to understand. The players are dealt two cards face up and the dealer is dealt one card face up and another that is dealt face down, so that neither they nor the players can see the total of the two.
The Players are then forced to decide whether they would like to take another card, to increase their total, or they are content that the hand shown will beat the total of the two dealer cards when they are revealed.
Rules of Blackjack
The basic rules of Blackjack are quite simple. You try to get a total closer to 21 than the dealer. The intricacies of the game are much harder to grasp however and take a long time to “master”.
As stated above, the dealer is only forced to show one card at the time of the initial deal and the player is dealt both cards face up. In almost every casino the dealer is forced to “hit” or continue taking cards until they reach the total of 17.
For this reason the player has to make a decision as to whether their cards are good enough to hold up against the card the dealer has visible, either in the hope that their total is going to stay higher or the dealer will “bust” or go OVER 21 while hitting to the 17 limit they are forced to strive for.
Their are many other intricacies of the game such as the ability to “split” your cards under certain circumstances to begin another hand, or the chance to “double down” or increase your bet when it seems likely that your hand will end up best under the conditions presently faced.
There are many other intricacies of the game that need to be calculated into a good blackjack strategy.
Playing Blackjack on Your Mobile
Almost every online casino now offers the players the chance to play Blackjack on your mobile phone or tablet/laptop.
You simply need to download the casino interface onto your mobile and then make a deposit, choose the type of Blackjack you want to play, as there are many forms such as Perfect Pair and others that offer different incentives for the players.
Counting cards is simply a way to try and get an edge over the casino. The player tries to keep track of the amount of high cards left in the deck in order to maximize their bets when the deck is “rich” with high cards and the chance to hit 21 is greater.
Counting cards is considered cheating by the casinos and in order to counter this practice most casinos now deal the cards out of “shoe” or card holder that holds 5 decks instead of the standard one.
Other Card Games
There is a wide variety of other card games such as Poker and Baccarat that the casinos make a great deal of money on.
Live Blackjack is played exactly the same way as online blackjack.
